Vorfreude is a German word with no English equivalent: the intense, anticipative joy that comes from imagining future pleasures. This medium-bodied Vienna-style lager is made with Bavarian lager yeast and loads of Vienna and Munich malts sourced from our friends at Proximity Malt. We only use whole-flower hops in our brews, and Vorfreude is no exception, with robust nugget hops for bittering and Tettnanger hops for aroma. The result is a clean, crisp, not-too-sweet and not-too-toasty easy-drinking lager.

3x Oktoberfest The timing of Vorfreude's release is no coincidence, friends. Along with fall's cozy sweaters and seasonal beers comes the magic that is Oktoberfest! This year Vorfreude provides us an (even better) excuse to extend the celebration. Once Munich's party shuts down on the sixth, the Viennese Oktoberfest begins, when a Vorfreude toast is mandatory. (Convenient for us, but not such a stretch! The first Vienna lager actually played a major role in the history of Munich's Oktoberfest.) Vienna hands the reins to Philipsburg in late October, when we host our eighth annual Oktoberfest in the 'Burg, and it's going to be incredible.
